2ND FORTNIGHTLY DISCUSSION :
WW1 CRISIS COUNCIL [18:00 – 19:30]
On 28 June 1914, the heir to the Austria-Hungary throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in Sarajevo. Fingers were pointed immediately at the Kingdom of Serbia who was known to harbor Yugoslav nationalists.

Backed by its ally and most powerful nation in Europe, the German Empire, the government of the Austria-Hungary Empire delivered an ultimatum.

The Kingdom of Serbia, however, called for aid from its chief backer, the Russian Empire who had already established an alliance with the French Republic who also had an alliance with the British Empire.

The French were still reeling from their defeat during the Franco-Prussian war and longed to retrieve its lost territory of the Rhineland from Germany.

At the same, the British Empire looked towards the growing German fleet with animosity, feeling threatened by the Germans encroaching on Britain’s sphere of influence- the high seas.

This council takes place right after the assassination of the Archduke. It is now up to you to determine the fate of Europe.

  • The Crisis MUN welcomes anyone and everyone to participate.

DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, 26th March
