If you were unaware the Monash delegation is currently in New York participating in NMUN (National Model United Nations). The Monash team made up of MIAS members is representing Jamaica in various committees such as the General Assembly 1, 3 and 4, Commission on the Status of Women, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and others.
The delegation on the first morning was afforded the exciting opportunity of visiting the Jamaican Permanent Mission to the UN. This included meeting Mr Kurt Davis, counsellor and social and humanitarian affairs officer, for an insightful presentation on Jamaica.
Delegates though have been enjoying themselves; visiting Wall Street, Statute of Liberty and plenty of shopping.
But as our head delegate Regina puts it this MUN is the most intense one yet. Please have a bit of sympathy for our delegates who were still in committee session until 11pm on the first day!
