Global MUN Program 2021

Global MUN Program 2021

At MIAS, our dedication to Model UN exceeds the domestic boundaries into the international level of competition. Our Global MUN Program allows our members to travel overseas and attend conferences to not only debate current world issues but also to broaden their knowledge of how international relations works while also honing their debating and public speaking skills.

Each year, we send delegations to the National Model United Nations Conference (NMUN) and the Harvard University World Model United Nations Conference. These two conferences are two of largest tertiary conferences held in the Model UN sphere.

MIAS has sent delegations to WorldMUN in Brussels (2014), Seoul (2015), Rome (2016), Montreal (2017), Panama City (2018), and Madrid (2019). MIAS also sent delegations to NMUN in those same years, which is always held in New York and affiliated with the United Nations, being the oldest MUN conference, pre-dating the UN itself.

MIAS also sends a delegation to the Asia-Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC). Hosted in a different city annually, it is the largest Model UN conference in the Asia-Pacific region and attracts students from diverse academic and personal backgrounds.

The GlobalMUN Program is the one of the most popular programs we run, giving our members the opportunity to travel abroad and represent Monash University with support and assistance from the University and other stakeholders.

APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED

Applications for the 2021 program are now closed.

In 2021, MIAS will be sending delegations to both WorldMUN (held 15-19 March 2021) and NMUN (held 5-9 April 2021).

This is your opportunity to participate in an award winning delegation, to engage with like-minded people from an array of cultures, and improve your model UN and debate skills while participating in a highly authentic and competitive environment at two of the world’s largest conferences.

The application process consists of two stages: a written application; and an interview. Students who are successful in the written application process will be shortlisted for interviews.

Offers will be made by mid-August. A wait list will be created for students who are unsuccessful, with priority going to students who are unsuccessful in the interview stage.

You will not be able to preference between NMUN or WorldMUN. By applying for the Program, you will be considered for both delegations. If you cannot attend any of the two conferences for extenuating circumstances (i.e. visa problems), please indicate this in the additional information section.

All applicants must be students of Monash University. Students are also required to be/become members of the MIAS.
